Riders stuck between larger vehicles in stopped traffic are among the most exposed people on the road. Help us ask the Idaho Legislature and the Governor for clear, common-sense rules that let motorcycles filter safely through stopped or slow-moving traffic.

To the Idaho Legislature and Governor of Idaho:
We, the undersigned citizens and residents of Idaho, respectfully petition for legislation establishing safe and responsible motorcycle lane filtering in Idaho.

What We’re Asking For

Legislation allowing lane filtering only when:

Traffic is stopped or moving slowly in the same direction.
The motorcycle operates at a limited, reasonable speed appropriate to surrounding traffic.
The maneuver can be completed safely without endangering or interfering with other road users.
The motorcycle travels in the same direction as other traffic.
Roadway, weather, visibility, and traffic conditions reasonably permit it.
Riders remain responsible for operating safely and obeying all other traffic laws.

Our Position

We support reasonable safety requirements and enforcement. This petition does not support reckless riding, excessive speed, aggressive maneuvering, or forcing other motorists to yield.

Idaho should establish clear rules that allow responsible lane filtering while protecting the safety and rights of all roadway users.

We Ask the Idaho Legislature To:

Introduce, consider, and pass legislation legalizing safe and responsible motorcycle lane filtering under clearly defined conditions.
